Brags ~ 2016
Great News from the 2016 AKC National Championship in Orlando
December 17 - 18, 2016

Plum Creek Kennel Club was the first to run the dog show patch program (initially called the Girl Scout Dog Show Patch Program) some six years ago, and has the most experience in the same, so PCKC Members Marlene Groves, Donna Keihl and Elaine Noel assisted in the launch of the NEW AKC Dog Show Patch Program at the 2016 AKC National Championship in Orlando.

Our PCKC members worked with AKC staffers, Davis Alexis and Samantha Seymour, as well as the Girl Scout Citrus Council in Orlando, and rallied a group of over 100 scouts to the dog show where they each earned their dog show patch.   The youth loved the dog show and their patch and the leaders really commented positively about the program, the elements and the overall fun of a dog show.  Basically, the launch was a wonderful success!

In addition to coordinating the launch of the program for the Orlando area Girl Scouts, our PCKC team, led by patch program developer Marlene Groves gave a Lunch & Learn seminar to other kennel club members who wanted to learn about the program, the elements & resources and how to offer it, in the future, at their all breed shows.

Our PCKC team’s spare time was spent promoting the program and answering questions from anyone interested in the same. Plum Creek Kennel Club is proud to support the program, the AKC and public education about dog shows; and we will be the first kennel club to run the new dog show patch program in 2017 at our February show.

Congratulations to PCKC's Marlene Groves who is also a public education coordinator for the AKC ! Bloodhound Education Brought to Simla, Colorado School

Students in Simla, Colorado got an opportunity recently to get up close and personal with two Bloodhounds, dogs that they otherwise may not encounter too often and who out-weighed the students by quite a bit.

Marlene Groves, an Elbert County resident who is a public education coordinator, the secretary-treasurer for Bloodhound Man-Trackers Inc., and member of several dog clubs, demonstrated how to greet a dog and explained some of the differences between different types and sizes of dogs.
